Steve and I met while attending college at BYU-Idaho. Once a week on a Tuesday afternoon, the campus would shut down and the student body had the opportunity/option to attend a devotional. Steve and I spent our year dating attending these weekly devotionals together and they hold special place in our heart.
Right after we graduated and left the college, Steve's parents arrived on a campus as service missionaries to help in the business department. What started as a two year full-time service, turned into almost 6 years and an additional 3 years of part-time service. They've served at the college for nearly a decade and the college was more than grateful for all they were able to accomplish. So much so that Steve's dad was asked to give the weekly devotional at the beginning of February.
We got the news a couple months back and immediately Steve knew he would be in attendance. A quick assessment of my pregnancy made me realize there was no way my doctor would want me flying up to Idaho 37 weeks pregnant. I was devastated. I wanted to be there so badly. Out of all of Steve's siblings and spouses, we were the only ones to attend BYU-Idaho. That devotional meant something different to us - it's part of our history and courtship. I'm grateful Steve was able to be there in person, I settled for watching a streaming feed online.
Steve was joined by 6 of his 8 siblings and although it was a short trip, he had the best time. My only request was that he take pictures to document everything for me. He's great at living in the moment and awful at documenting that moment. Luckily, many of the others were kind enough to share their pictures! I even asked him to write this post from his perspective - he kindly declined!

The snow covered grounds and crisp air were a significant change from our warm/dry weather and beautiful all the same.

The weekly devotional is a well oiled machine. Everything is very organized and very detailed. This includes a formal lunch with the president of the college. I noticed in the picture Steve's siblings are arranged around the table from oldest to youngest.

Bob did an excellent job. He spoke about family heritage and the legacy of family. Something near and dear to his heart as he's worked with his wife to create their own legacy. A legacy I'm happy to be a part of. It's amazing what two people can create.
Steve came home and was on cloud nine. The different family gatherings they had, games they played, conversations they shared, being back on campus, watching his dad speak in front of thousands of people. It was short but it was worth it.
He was kind enough not to rub it in too much, seeing as though I couldn't be there, and then he humored me by staying up late and telling me all the details. He knows my love language!
As miserable as the weather can be at times, I sure love that place - it holds so many great memories.
