Last week was spirit week which meant every day Hallie was determined to dress up. The first day was easy, pajama day. Hallie put on her shiniest pajamas and started walking out the door. Steve was home for the morning before leaving on a business trip and he saw her walking out. You could see the concern in his eyes. "Are you sure it's pajama day? That is one mistake we don't want to make. What if nobody else dresses up?"
Hallie was set on wearing pajamas and nothing we said was going to change that. There is always the risk that she might be the only one to dress up, but she's willing to take it. I give her three years before she's calling her friends and arranging everything the night before to make sure she's not the only one. She's in a fun/care-free stage of life and I know it won't last forever.
Steve was relieved to walk her out to the bus stop to see a whole bus load of kids wearing their pajamas!
Each day that passed required more effort and sadly we skipped one day all together because it was disco day and I didn't have the energy to come up with something and Hallie had no clue what disco day was! They saved crazy hair day for last. We had fun with this one. Fortunately she only poked two kids in the eye at school with her pigtail, I thought it would be a much higher count.
Bennett too fell victim to dangerous pigtail. Poor guy, he didn't even see it coming.
Spirit week was always my favorite. There were many many days in high school where people would ask "why are you dressed like a cowboy?", "why is your face painted blue?" maybe I should have arranged things with my friends!
ReplyDeleteI love that her eyes had to go crazy too because her hair was. So cute!
