Hunter adores his older sister. They play so well together and I'm sure he believes they are the best of friends. While she's at school he likes to spend time in her room; looking at her books, listening to her music, eating her candy. He has no concept of the age difference between them and often screams, "It's not fair" if Hallie gets something he doesn't. And for the most part they play well together. When we take lunch to Hallie at school, Hallie quickly switches to the protective older sister to her little brother as she coddles him and talks to him and like he's the cutest thing she's ever seen.
We recently went to Hallie's school swim night. I was concerned with Hunter because he didn't have any friends there to pal around with, and I wasn't going to be in the water with him. I walked with Bennett around the perimeter so I could keep an eye on him. My concerns were quickly put to rest when I saw him trailing his older sister and all of her friends, and Hallie was totally welcoming of it. She was holding his hand, making sure she didn't lose him. Hallie's friends ate him up to - he's kind of a big deal! I got home and went through the pictures and just had to smile as I saw these two side by side in many of them:
Man I'm grateful for their friendship.
It won't be too long before this guy is trailing Hunter:
