The Resurrection...

I mentioned here that Steve and I gave talks on Sunday for our Easter services. We were asked well in advance, which meant we were able to stress about it for a good amount of time. Feelings of inadequacy and nerves continued to surface. Neither one of us felt qualified to give such a special and sacred message, but we were both prayerful as we prepared. I spoke on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and Steve spoke on the atonement of Jesus Christ; fitting for Easter Sunday. What a powerful experience this preparation was for me. I read and dissected the Savior's life through scriptures, talks and books dedicated to his resurrection. How inspiring it was and it offered so much hope as we deal with mortal losses.

I took a couple quotes from Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin that I hope offer as much hope to you as it did to me:

"The despair (of the crucifixion on Friday) did not linger because on Sunday, the resurrected Lord burst the bonds of death. He ascended from the grave and appeared gloriously triumphant as the Savior of all mankind.

Each of us will have our own Fridays—those days when the universe itself seems shattered and the shards of our world lie littered about us in pieces. We all will experience those broken times when it seems we can never be put together again. We will all have our Fridays.

But Sunday will come. In the darkness of our sorrow, Sunday will come. No matter our desperation, no matter our grief, Sunday will come. In this life or the next, Sunday will come."
