The Super Bowl was in Phoenix this year, which is a pretty big deal. This is the third time the area has hosted and the first time since us living here. And although we live here, we live far enough away that it was easy to forget we were even hosting.
My apologies to any that might have visited for the game - our weather was not cooperating and it rained and rained. Here, we advertise and gloat about our beautiful winter weather and it was more than disappointing this weekend. But the rain didn't stop us from taking the kids downtown to see what they hype was all about.
We knew it would be busy (the day before the game) and it was. But we figured the light rail ride alone would be worth it in the eyes of our kids. What's not to love about a Saturday morning with a train ride and football??
Several blocks of downtown Phoenix were transformed into Superbowl Central with streets roped off, food vendors and all sorts of fun and games. Hunter is really digging football right now so he walked the streets in awe, with his own football tucked beneath his arm.
We had fun in the Tostitos booth making a family video. Are we Seattle fans? No. But we prefer them over the Patriots and they didn't have Caridnals or Packers gear!
The kids took turns jumping into a foam pit trying to catch a football. Bennett's is my favorite!
We had a great morning and once the rain started to come down around lunch time, we made our way to the station to head home. It was fun. Nice work Phoenix. Next time, try and pay off the rain Gods.
